The International Workshop for Young Mathematicians is the most significant academic event organised for over two decades by the Zaremba Society of Mathematicians - Students of the Jagiellonian University. Over the course of a week, participants are offered lectures by leading researchers in the specific field to which that year’s event is dedicated, where they also have the opportunity to present their own research related to this topic.
It is an opportunity to meet world-renowned scientists, lecturers and researchers from across the globe and, perhaps even more importantly, to forge international connections with other students who share the same passion and enthusiasm for science. Throughout the event, there are many opportunities, both formal and informal, for participants to exchange thoughts, views and experiences – whether within the university walls, in the natural retreats of the royal city of Cracow, or at a get-together in a bar.
This year’s edition of the Workshop will be devoted to dynamical systems, more specifically to classical and computational dynamics. Today, mathematical modelling is hard to imagine without the support of computers, and computational methods often make it possible to resolve problems that resisted classical analytical tools for many years. A good example is Smale’s 14th problem, which was solved through a combination of theoretical insight and a computer-assisted proof.
We warmly invite anyone interested to get in touch (kmsuj@uj.edu.pl) and, ultimately, to take part in our conference, which is the perfect opportunity to join your peers in the world of serious and endlessly fascinating scientific inquiries.
We are posting updates about the conference on our Facebook page – do give us a follow!
