Important Information

App for traveling in Cracow

In order to easily travel using public transport in Cracow, we recommend using the app JakDojade. It provides accurate timetables and can help you search for connections between two given locations. It also works great in (most) major cities in Poland, although it is intended for local public transport rather than intercity travel. The app is available in English.

You can also purchase bus/tram tickets using JakDojade, which will be linked to your account and device. To buy a ticket using JakDojade, search for the bus/tram's side number, which consists of two letters followed by three numbers, placed above each validator.

Eligible discounts

If you are not a student of a Polish university, you are entitled to a student’s discount if and only if you are 25 years old or younger and have a valid ISIC (International Student Identity Card).

Ticket validation

All paper tickets in Cracow must be validated upon entering the vehicle! They are not automatically valid, even if they were bought inside the vehicle. If you have a paper ticket, which can be bought on some tram/bus stops (e.g. at the Teatr Słowackiego stop), you must validate it immediately upon entering the vehicle. Mobile tickets purchased in an app and electronic tickets purchased from an on-board contactless ticket machine become valid when the purchase is completed.

As of 2026, many trams and buses do not sell paper tickets anymore — the only way to buy a ticket once you’re inside is either using an app (like JakDojade) or an on-board machine that saves the ticket to a contactless bank card, phone or watch.

Traveling in Cracow

Useful bus and tram lines

The nearest stop to the faculty is Norymberska. All trams and buses going towards the Czerwone Maki P+R terminus arrive here, and more precisely — bus number 578 and trams 18, 52 and 73. Lines 18 and 52 are the ones you’ll usually use to get directly to Norymberska.

Suggested route from Norymberska stop to the faculty. Please note that the default route on Google Maps (as of August 2026) is incorrect since it will take you through a construction site on a private property.

  • From Kraków Główny railway station: Lines 18 and 52 are a direct connection between the railway station and Norymberska. Line 18 stops at the Dworzec Główny Zachód stop and line 52 stops at Teatr Słowackiego. The scheduled travel time on the Teatr Słowackiego - Norymberska route is about 25 minutes.

    Suggested route from Kraków Główny station to the Dworzec Główny Zachód tram stop (you can take tram 18 from there) and the Teatr Słowackiego tram stop (you can take tram 52 from there)

  • From Kraków Balice Airport:, use bus number 300 to get to Grunwald Roundabout (Rondo Grunwaldzkie). From there use tram 52 or 18 or bus line 194 (this bus is almost direct — the closest stop is Rostworowskiego). (note: Kraków Airport is outside of Cracow city limits, but inside the Cracow metropolitan area. You will need tickets for Zone I+II+III to travel to and from there)

  • From the Kazimierz district: it is most convenient to travel to Norymberska using trams 18, 52.

  • From Red Carpet Hostel: the closest bus/tram stop is Nowy Kleparz. You can travel to Teatr Słowackiego using bus lines 130, 179, 304, 502 or tram lines 3, 74 and from Teatr Słowackiego take tram lines 18 or 52 which will take you directly to Norymberska. Alternatively, from Nowy Kleparz, you can travel to Grunwald Roundabout (Rondo Grunwaldzkie) using bus lines 179, 301, 469, 503, 513 and from Grunwald Roundabout take tram lines 18 or 52 as before.

  • From the AGH Student Town (AGH Hostels): we recommend either using bus line number 194 (to Rostworowskiego) or using buslines 124, 144, 164, 169, 173, 179, 194, 301, 424, 503, 513, 708, (stops Czarnowiejska and AGH/UR) to get to Grunwald Roundabout (Rondo Grunwaldzkie) and travel with tram 52 or 18 (to Norymberska) or bus 194 (to Rostworowskiego) from there.

Routes can change because of temporary diversions. Please check JakDojade or the official KMK timetables shortly before travelling.

Tickets

Proposed ticket offer is as follows:

  • 30-minute or single-trip ticket: 6 PLN full fare / 3 PLN reduced fare;
  • 7-day ticket for Zone I: 65 PLN full fare / 32.50 PLN reduced fare. It allows unlimited travel within Kraków city limits.

    A Zone I ticket does not cover the section of the airport journey outside Kraków. In case of traveling to or from Kraków Airport, a ticket for all the zones (I+II+III) is needed.

    A 7-day paper ticket needs to be validated only once, at the beginning of your first journey. Keep it with you whenever you use public transport.

Other

You can also use Google Maps to see where you should go once you're in Krakow. You can also search for public transport connections. Note however that, in general, they are not as accurate as JakDojade. If you want a more detailed plan of all buses and trains, you can visit the official site of the public transport carrier.
Even if you do not see a method of buying a ticket inside a vehicle, you still need to have a valid ticket. If you buy a 7-day ticket, you only need to validate it once and keep it with you while using public transport.
